Privacy policy
Last updated: 27 September 2026
In short: we collect no personal data. No account, no ads, no tracking tools.
Who we are
Myra: Halal Food Scanner is published by Abdelilah Cherkaoui. Contact: cherkaoui.abdo@gmail.com.
What the app does with your data
- Camera. It is used to read barcodes and ingredient lists. The analysis happens on your iPhone. No image is stored or sent.
- Barcodes. To show a product sheet, the app sends the scanned barcode to Open Food Facts (a French non-profit, its privacy policy). As with any internet connection, Open Food Facts sees the IP address of the request. No personal identifier is sent.
- US products. For a US or Canadian product that Open Food Facts doesn't have, the app also downloads a public file drawn from the USDA FoodData Central database (public domain), from the site that publishes the rules. That file groups every product whose barcode ends in the same three digits: the scanned barcode itself is not sent.
- History, strictness profile, favourites. They stay on your iPhone and are deleted with the app.
- Analysis rules. Once a day, the app downloads the public rules file. This download contains no data about you.
- Subscription. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We see neither your identity nor your payment details.
- Notifications. The end-of-trial reminder is a notification scheduled on your iPhone, with no server.
What we don't do
We use no advertising, no audience analytics and no ad tracking. We neither sell nor share any data.
Your rights
Since the publisher collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. For any question, write to cherkaoui.abdo@gmail.com. You can also contact the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
Children
The app collects no data, including from minors.
